[link]Is basically a fan fic idea based on "Kingdom of the Sun" movie that never was.
Did you know that "The Emperor's New Groove" was originally going to be a more standard Disney musical movie like the movies they had at the 90's Renaissance called "Kingdom of the Sun" ?
Here's a drawing by
[link]Also info of the development
[link]It was suppose to be an Incan version of the Prince and the Pauper with Kuzco (called Manco in that time) and a younger Pacha switching roles and Yzma (a real sorceress) finds out about the switch and turns Manco into a llama and decides to use Pacha as a puppet for her bidding. Her plans was to eternally blot out the sun so she could stay young forever.
Here are two songs that were originally going to be in the movie that later got scrapped but eventually ended up in the "The Emperor's New Groove"
Snuff out the light (Yzma's song)- the villain song
[link]And here's a very rare recording that Eartha Kitt (Yzma's voice actress) did
[link]Just look how Yzma looked so different in that version from the one of the final cut. Not to mention she really looked alot like Eartha!

With the shadowy figures monsters, if the keep them that way that could have made Yzma the first villain to have "friends on the other side" before Facilier

The other song is
"One day she'll love me" sung by Sting and Shawn Colvin- the love song
[link]It was suppose to sung through by Pacha and as he and the female love interest that the emperor was betrothed to were generally slowly going to fall in love with each other
I really like "The Emperor's New Groove" (I know that many of you love it and others well just don't simply like it) but sometimes I would have loved to see how the "Kingdom of the Sun" idea would have been.
Who knows if it could have been a hit in theaters or just get underrated like the Disney movies on the early 2000's ....
But maybe they should try that idea for other movies in the future...
Who knows....
EDIT
Here's the famous "Sweatbox" behind the scenes documentary about the Disney movie that never came to be to the buddy picture comedy that we love
